Instant info usage examples
Use instant info topics to:
- Post info on the Web even if you don't have a website.
- Give more information about yourself to people responding to your MySpamSponge intro card.
- Say more than what you can squeeze into the often-miserly profile space limitations on most dating sites.
- With the optional reports, you can analyze the effectiveness of a marketing campaign or determine what your readers are especially interested in. You can optionally choose to be notified every time your message is read.
- Avoid dead links in your books or other publications. Even topnotch publishers often neglect this problem. The author inserts standard links, and everything is initially OK. Over time, however, many links change when the content is moved to a new page or domain. Result? Readers often get a 404 "File not found" error. We have a better way: insert the link in an instant info topic, and place the instant info link in the publication. If the standard link ever changes, it can easily be updated on our site so readers accessing those links never get "File not found" errors.
- Keep your business card contact information current. Many business cards are tucked away and referred to months or years later, by which time your e-mail address, physical address, phone number, FAX number, and even website may have changed. You will never lose a customer due to outdated information if your card includes a link to an instant info topic listing your current contact info.
- Offer safe URL redirection (a.k.a., URL forwarding). One major drawback to URL redirection services (but not ours) is that the link seen by the user gives no indication of what page the user will be directed to. For example, a user may see http://some-short-link.com/w7g2dn, click it, and be directed to a malicious site that damages the user's computer or steals his identity and money. Our URL redirection/forwarding service is safe because a user is never immediately directed to an unknown site. Instead, every URL redirect leads to a safe page on our site on which the user can see an instant info topic with the destination URL and information about it to help him assess whether clicking that link is safe.
- Enable you to freely communicate without worrying about dumb spam filters nixing your message just because it includes a word or phrase that spammers use. For example, if you are a urologist, when writing to your patients you will frequently need to use words such as penis, Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra. Spam filters may also block messages containing words and phrases like amazing, call now, can't live without, guarantee, once in a lifetime, and opportunity. Consider this message:
Dear Ingrid,
Meeting you was a once in a lifetime opportunity. You're amazing and I can't live without you. May I call now? I guarantee that I've changed.
That message may be blocked by spam filters that mindlessly recognize words and phrases but not their context.
If you create an instant info topic, you can say anything you want without wondering if a spam filter will block your message. Instead of sending the message to your recipient(s), just send the link to it.
